Lighting that keeps up with Tocumwal Golf Club’s transformation

11 luminaire types, custom linear sizing and sensor integration for a regional club redevelopment

New spaces, new demands and a long list of lighting requirements

Tocumwal Golf Club is a well-known venue on Barooga Road in regional New South Wales. In 2024 the club kicked off a major redevelopment to bring the whole place up to scratch. Designed by EDG Projects and built by Kennedy Builders, the upgrade added a new café and bistro, a redesigned bar, a modern golf shop, a golf simulator and a two-storey entrance. CED Group, the electrical contractor running the fit-out, needed a manufacturer who could put together a golf club lighting package across a range of new and refurbished spaces.

Each area called for different wattages, colour temperatures, beam angles, dimming setups and sensor integration. Internal spaces needed warm ambient lighting for hospitality. External areas needed tough luminaires rated for the weather. On top of that, several linear runs required custom sizing to suit specific architectural details. The contractors needed a lighting supplier in Victoria that could do more than just supply product. They needed someone who could take their drawings, recommend the right luminaires, develop custom solutions and get it all delivered on time.

Products developed to match the aesthetic and performance of each space

Superlight was asked to quote on the project and put forward our products. The team reviewed CED Group’s electrical drawings, assessed each space and put together product recommendations with full datasheets. The scope covered recessed downlights and LED panels for general areas, wall-mounted luminaires for external zones and linear fixtures for feature runs.

After sign-off, Superlight developed detailed shop drawings for the custom linear products. This locked in exact lengths, mounting setups and diffuser choices so every luminaire was purpose-built before it went into production.

The products then moved into manufacturing, configuration and refinishing. Each luminaire was assembled, tested and finished to the specified colours and ratings before dispatch. The full order landed within two to four months, keeping pace with the build.

A club that looks and feels the way it was designed to

The updated Tocumwal Golf Club is now open and welcoming guests and events. The lighting does exactly what it was designed to do. Every space has the right level and feel for its function.

In the café, bistro and bar, warm ambient lighting creates a relaxed hospitality feel. Downlights and panels give even, comfortable illumination for dining and socialising. Linear luminaires pick up architectural details across feature areas. Over in the golf shop and simulator, brighter task lighting keeps things clear for retail displays and tech. Outside, weather-rated wall luminaires handle the courtyards and entrance so the venue feels welcoming after dark.

Because the luminaires include switchable colour temperatures, dimmable controls and sensor integration, the club’s team can adjust the lighting across zones and times of day without swapping out hardware. It is a flexible setup that keeps energy costs down too.

Superlight managed its scope from specification through to delivery. The LED lighting solution matched the architectural vision, met the electrical contractor’s requirements and stayed on schedule. Much like our work at The Roos Club and Warners Bay Hotel, this project shows what happens when the right luminaires meet the right expertise.
